Automatic Transmission Oil Change
One of the most basic concepts of car repair and maintenance is on proper changing of automotive fluids. One of the fluids used in cars is the automatic transmission fluid or ATF which is used in automatic transmissions. This is often red or green which distinguishes it from the other car fluids.
Like the other maintenance fluids transmission oil should be changed frequently in order to keep the car from undergoing car repair. It may be a good thing to keep some containers of transmission oil ready so that it is can easily be used whenever needed. Shelf life of transmission oils are more or less 3 years. For those who do not have any idea about transmission oil and its formulation it is a good idea to get transmission oil with the simpler oil formulation as these have longer shelf life. If you do not have an idea drop by our shop and we can tell you more about it.
Some of the current automatic transmission fluids we have for you include the following:
• ATF+4 – this transmission fluid works for most Dodge Chrysler and Jeeps
• Dexron VI transmission oil – works for most GM products
• Mercon V oil for your transmission – works for most Lincoln Ford and Mercury cars
There are some synthetic transmission fluids that are available in our shelves and these may even offer better performance and services especially shelf life for some applications that vehicles focus on.
Also to supplement better car care we have lint free rags that are best used to wipe the dipstick while you check your automatic transmission fluids especially during transmission oil change.
